OBSIDIAN – Claps Pack – Free Download

It’s not just a sound, it’s a moment. A punch. A statement in the beat. When I started building the OBSIDIAN Claps Pack, I didn’t just want generic claps. I wanted textures that feel alive, dark, and cinematic… something that cuts through a mix and instantly grabs attention.

This pack wasn’t made randomly. Every sound you see in that project timeline had an intention behind it.

OBSIDIAN – Claps Raw Sound & Core

The process began with digging. I went through multiple raw clap samples, some clean, some gritty, some almost unusable. But that’s the point. You don’t start with perfection; you shape it.

I picked claps that had:

Strong transient (that initial hit)
Character in the tail
Room for layering

Some were too dry. Some were too wide. Some were just noise. But each one had potential.

What you’re seeing in the project is heavy layering.

Claps Pack

Each “Clap 01, Clap 02…” isn’t just one sound; it’s a combination of textures stacked together. I layered:

  • A punchy clap for impact
  • A mid clap for the body
  • A textured or noisy clap for character

Sometimes, even adding subtle percussive clicks underneath just to give it a unique fingerprint. Layering is where the magic happens. A single clap is basic. A layered clap becomes a signature.

OBSIDIAN – Claps Shaping And Depth

Once the layers were stacked, I focused on shaping. The transient, the first few milliseconds, is everything. If it’s weak, the clap disappears in the mix. If it’s too harsh, it becomes annoying.

So I:

  • Tightened the attack
  • Cut unnecessary low-end
  • Controlled peaks
  • Adjusted envelope shaping

This is where each clap started to feel designed rather than just placed.

OBSIDIAN

Not every clap should feel the same. Some claps in OBSIDIAN are tight and upfront. Others are wide and atmospheric. You can actually see that in your arrangement, some waveforms are short and compact, while others stretch out with long tails.

To achieve that, I used:

  • Short reverbs for tight claps
  • Longer, darker reverbs for ambient claps
  • Stereo widening for space
  • Subtle delays for movement

The goal was to give producers options, whether they want a dry trap clap or something more cinematic.

OBSIDIAN – Claps Processing

This is where things got interesting. I didn’t just clean the sounds, I colored them. Some claps were slightly distorted to add grit. Others were saturated to bring warmth. A few were even degraded slightly to give that raw, underground feel.

OBSIDIAN Claps

Processing included:

Saturation for thickness
Soft clipping for punch
EQ carving for clarity
Compression to glue layers

Each clap went through its own chain. No presets. No shortcuts.

OBSIDIAN – Claps Experimentation & Arrangement

This was my favorite part. I started pushing boundaries, testing how far I could take a clap without ruining it. Some experiments failed. Some turned into the best sounds in the pack.

I tried reversing tails and blending them. Stretching audio for texture, Pitching claps up and down for variation, and adding subtle noise layers. That’s why the pack doesn’t feel repetitive. Every clap has its own identity.

Looking at the project, you can see how everything was laid out. Each clap is placed separately, allowing me to:

  • Compare them side by side
  • Adjust timing and feel
  • Fine-tune volume balance
  • Quickly export variations

This structured workflow saved time and kept everything clean.

Once everything sounded right, I exported each clap individually.

Each file was:

Cleanly trimmed
Properly normalized
Clearly named

“Clap 01” to “Clap 17” isn’t just labeling, it’s a system. It keeps things simple for users while still offering variety.
